Samsung is strengthening its collaboration with Google and is focusing on advanced AI technologies with the new Galaxy S25 series. The company is challenging Apple with innovative features and a new premium model.
Samsung is increasingly focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and working more closely with Google. With the new Galaxy S25 series and the surprisingly announced "Edge" model, the company wants to expand its market position and put pressure on Apple. The new smartphones were presented in Santa Clara and offer a wide range of innovative functions.
The new Galaxy models are equipped with advanced AI capabilities. For example, background noise can be removed during video recordings. Google's AI assistant Gemini largely replaces Samsung's previous assistant Bixby and enables more efficient voice control. Users can interact with Gemini at the touch of a button, search for photos, call up maps or process texts.
With Qualcomm's new chips, many AI-supported functions can be executed directly on the device, which increases data protection. However, the exact limits of local data processing were not explained in detail.
With these developments, Samsung is specifically positioning itself against Apple, which has made big announcements with its "Apple Intelligence", but has not yet made much progress in practical implementation.
Samsung has increasingly focused on high-priced smartphones and has been able to increase its market share in the premium segment. The average price of a Samsung smartphone is now 448 dollars, while the top model Galaxy S25 Ultra is still available for 1299 dollars. The new model series will be available to consumers on February 7.
Market researchers predict that Samsung will continue to increase its share of so-called AI phones. Analysts expect AI-supported models to account for around 33% of all smartphone sales in 2025.
