United Internet and its subsidiary 1&1 are undergoing a double change in financial management. Markus Huhn and Ralf Hartings vacate their positions, while Sascha D'Avis and Carsten Theurer take over.
Markus Huhn, CFO of 1&1 for many years, has announced his resignation at the end of 2024. After more than 30 years with the company, including 17 years in senior financial positions, the 56-year-old is leaving the Management Board of the United Internet brand subsidiary at his own request. Huhn began his career in Controlling at the DLW Group in 1990 and moved to 1&1 in 1994, where he successively took on management positions. He had been a member of the Management Board since July 2019.
Sascha D'Avis, an experienced insider of the company, will take over as his successor. The 49-year-old was previously CFO of 1&1 Telecommunication SE and CFO of 1&1 Mobilfunk GmbH. D'Avis, who studied business administration, has been with the 1&1 Group since 2004 and has held numerous management positions in finance.
However, Markus Huhn will remain with the Group. He has been a member of the Management Board of United Internet since April 2023 and is responsible for Shared Services. Ralph Dommermuth, CEO of United Internet and 1&1, praised Huhn's contribution in particular to the merger of 1&1 and Drillisch and the subsequent integration: His work has always been characterized by exceptional professionalism and reliability.
There are also personnel changes at the parent company United Internet. Ralf Hartings, who only took over the position of Chief Financial Officer in April 2023, will leave the company at his own request on March 31, 2025.
Carsten Theurer took over as his successor on January 1. Theurer brings more than 20 years of experience from the Schwarz Group (Lidl, Kaufland). He was most recently Chief Financial Officer and Chairman of the Management Board of Schwarz Dienstleistung KG before leaving the company in 2023 due to different strategic ideas. With his extensive expertise, Theurer will further develop United Internet's financial strategy.
With the personnel changes at the top of their finance departments, United Internet and 1&1 are positioning themselves for the future. The internal and external appointments reflect the focus on continuity, efficiency and strategic development. Ralph Dommermuth emphasized how important the new managers will be for the Group's future challenges.
